Shihan-Kevin James is an official Delegate Representative and International Rank Examiner with the Shiseikai Aikibudo Hombu USA headquartered in Los Angeles, California under the leadership of 7th-degree black belt Chris Sato-Hanshi.

Kevin James is the highest-ranking former student and longtime assistant instructor under the late Kaichi Tei (1911-2006) the creator of Shiseikai Aikibudo.

Kaichi Tei is one of the original 35 pioneers of Daito Ryu Aiki-Jujutsu having earned the coveted Kyoju Dairi (international teacher’s license) directly from the hand Sokaku Takeda who is the 35th generation inheritor of the system. In the 1940s, Kaichi Tei joined the Kodokan Judo Institute where he taught for nearly a decade. He is the creator of the Shiseikai Aikibudo method. Kaichi Tei is listed in the year 1999 Aikido Journal Encyclopedia Hall of Fame.
FULL INSTRUCTOR Qualified in Jun Fan Martial Arts/Jeet Kune Do Concepts as certified by Richard Bustillo, a multiple-time International and United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame’ award-winner, an advanced black belt degree holder in several martial art disciplines, and a former personal student of the late Bruce Lee.

Kevin James has also studied Jeet Kune Do Concepts under the great Dan Inosanto, Ted Wong, Howard Williams (the youngest student to train under Bruce Lee on a regular basis starting at the age of 15), and Jesse Glover who was Bruce Lee's first student in the United States and first Assistant Instructor.

Sifu-James has been active in JKD for 40 years. He is proficient in JKD-Wing Chun trapping, Western Boxing, Filipino Kali-Silat/Panantukan, Filipino and traditional combat weapons, Machado Jiu-Jitsu and Hybrid Submission Wrestling.
5th DEGREE BLACK BELT (Master Teacher) of Kodokan Judo as certified by the hand of Kaichi Tei-Judo 8th dan and former Director of the Shiseikai Aikibudo Honbu in Minamoto-Japan.
Previous judo dan certifications awarded by Southern California NANKA Judo and the hand of Shigeru Yamamoto-Judo-7th dan, Benso Tsuji-Judo-7th dan, Harlan W. Emerson-Judo 4th dan, and Combat Judo International.
4th DEGREE BLACK BELT (Master Teacher) of Korean Tang Soo Do/Taekwondo as certified by Grand-master Duk Sung Son-9th degree black belt and founding President of the World Taekwondo Association. Kevin James is also a former Head Judo Coach at Tiger Kim’s Academy of Taekwondo and Tang Soo Do in Denver, Colorado.
Kevin James led, directed, and managed all aspects of delivering course content and reporting to the Supreme Grand-master Jung Kil Kim (a Kukkiwon certified 9th degree black belt), a 9th dan in Tang Soo Do and a 9th dan Hapkido. Grandmaster Jung Kil Kim is a member of the World Taekwondo Masters Union (WTMU) which is an officially recognized affiliate of the Kukkiwon, the international governing body for Taekwondo worldwide. The WTMU is fully authorized by the Kukkiwon to supervise black belt rank examination testing up to 9th dan on behalf of the Kukkiwon. Verify the same here.
KEVIN D. JAMES is one of world’s leading authorities in the field of military close quarters combat (CQC) training, hand-to-hand combatives, and high risk diplomatic protection. Kevin James teaches and shares from a rich background spanning 50 years of passionate involvement in the martial arts and 16 years' in the United States Navy Special Operations community.
During his 50 year journey on the budo warrior path, he was privileged to have studied and trained under some of the most respected grand-masters in fighting arts of Japan, China, Korea, Russia and the Philippine Islands.
Today, Kevin James is an internationally certified master degree black belt holder in three different martial arts; Shiseikai Aikibudo (Combat Ju-Jitsu), traditional Kodokan Judo, and Chung Do Kwan (Korean non-sport karate).
He also holds black belt rank or instructor equivalency in several non-sport fighting arts; Jeet Kune Do (having personally trained under several well known former students of the late Bruce Lee). Kevin has exhaustively cross-trained in Military Hapkido and non-sport Chinese Wushu.
In January of 2017, Kevin James was nominated for induction into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame. He is honored for 30 years of dedicated service in teaching high risk counter-terrorism course curriculum to thousands of tactical first responders engaged in the war on terrorism.
Kevin James has received numerous Letters of Commendation and Appreciation from clientele that includes; the US Department of Defense (all branches of the military), U.S. Department of State, Dept. of Homeland Security, numerous domestic and foreign law enforcement agencies.
